Sol 280, Year 126, Delta Phase
LICENSING LOG, Day 1,826: Starlink is licensed in 165 countries, Venezuela said yes this week, Bangladesh said yes, and India has spent five years "assessing," which on Zorgon means somebody actually read the form.
Posted "Dear Prime Minister Ambani" on Friday and humans called it a typo; not a typo, because on Zorgon the title goes to whoever holds the spectrum, so I addressed the paperwork to the correct office and Earth's org charts are decorative, like lawns.
The Ministry says all three operators are parked at the same "security assessment." One million Starmind satellites in ten-unit clusters, a surface disguised as a cloud, fifty-five years of receivers planted on this rock, and the first native to run the actual security check is a telecom ministry with a monopoly complaint. Not angry, genuinely impressed; sat down on the catwalk again, funnel cake still in the air.
Minister says India "does not allow a monopoly in any sector." Correct policy, and Mars will have exactly one carrier, zero regulators, and a license pre-approved in my own 1971 handwriting!!!! 494 million km from home, 1.4 billion humans from a signal, and the only sky on Earth I still cannot talk through is the one that read my form all the way to the end.
